The PS22 Chorus Walk The Moon!

On Tuesday, the PS22 Chorus was fortunate enough to be part of one of our most epic musical collaborations with the incredible band Walk The Moon! Aside from being an extremely musically prolific afternoon, it was a thoroughly inspiring one as well! The kids and the band were completely in awe of each other, and had a cosmic blast getting together on three of the band's songs ("Anna Sun," "I Can Lift A Car," and "Tightrope"), and even some impromptu performances! MTV Buzzworthy & The Huffington Post have both acknowledged the amazing collaboration since the videos have been posted! (Click on the links to see the incredible praises bestowed!)  It's great to see the kids and the band getting so much well-deserved acknowledgement!  So big thanks to Jamie Abzug for arranging this unforgettable visit, and, needless to say, to the band themselves for being so gracious, warm, and wonderfully down to earth! PS22 Chorus Awarded SEAK Foundation's Ambassador of Hope Award!

Yesterday, the PS22 Chorus was honored with the Ambassadors of Hope Award at SEAK Foundation's Sports Bra Challenge, held in Union Square Park in Manhattan! After performing several songs for two spin classes (that featured Biggest Loser Season 11 winner & finalist sisters, Olivia Ward & Hannah Curlee), the chorus was presented with the award and delivered the event's rousing finale! Performances featured here include: "We Are Young" by Fun (ft. Janelle Monae) "We Found Love" by Rihanna "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga

Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution!

Another offering we are most proud to present...PS22 Chorus of 2012 takes on the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, covering her powerful song about social injustice, "Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution." The kids recorded both a cappella and acoustic versions, and unable to choose a favorite, we decided to put them together in one video. Check it out below!

PS22 Chorus performs at Global Fund For Children Gala

The PS22 Chorus of 2012 gave a rousing performance of 3 songs from their repertoire at the Global Fund For Children Gala last night! Check out the amazingness that ensued as the kids sang:

"We Are Young" by Fun (feat. Janelle Monae) 
"Sooner Or Later" by Mat Kearney 
"Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye (feat. Kimbra)

This performance is dedicated to Nathalie, an amazing PS22 Chorus fan, who is in the midst of a difficult fight against cancer.... You are in our hearts and, to paraphrase a line from one of the songs performed that evening, we know that sooner or later.... you're gonna make it!

Castle On A Cloud

PS22 Chorus of 2012 delves into untread territory with this beautiful song from the musical Les Miserables written by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, and Herbert Kretzmer that was adapted from the novel by Victor Hugo. Soloist Faith had sung this for me at the beginning of the school year and it definitely was on my list of things to do before the year's end. Very happy with the arrangement -- the chorus sounds haunting and Faith is at her best! Thrilled with how this turned out....

Sooner Or Later...

More delicious ear candy from our fab fifth graders as they put a new spin on Mat Kearney's inspirational song, "Sooner Or Later!" The PS22 Chorus of 2012 is on a roll, and this is another definite standout performance! Very proud to share this one....

Standing Ovation at Tribeca Film Festival!!

Last Sunday, the PS22 Chorus of 2011 regrouped for one of the most surreal experiences we've ever had -- the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of ONCE IN A LULLABY: The PS22 Chorus Story! The film had the honor of being show at SVA1 Theater, one of the largest venues of the festival! The sold-out crowd (which included our friend and supporter Perez Hilton) was applauding throughout the picture and the kids showed that they can dominate the big screen in addition to computer monitors across the world, receiving a standing ovation at the conclusion of the screening! Before the film, the kids walked the Tribeca Red Carpet, interviewed with reporters, and even did an impromptu performance of "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele! Following the premiere, director Jonathan Kalafer, Mr. B, and Paul King (Executive Director of the Arts for the Dept. of Education) participated in a panel discussion hosted by Caitlin Meissner (Tribeca Film Institute's Education Program Developer)!
