Christmas at Sunrise!

On Friday, the PS22 Chorus visited the wonderful seniors at Sunrise Assisted Living in Staten Island to find and bring some holiday cheer! It was truly the most heartwarming way to spend the holiday season....  Merry Christmas to all!!

The SINGING Dead ft. Emily Kinney!!!

Such a thrill to have the opportunity to make music with Emily Kinney, aka "Beth" from The Walking Dead! We adore her character on the show, her voice, her new EP EXPIRED LOVE, and most impressively her down-to-earth good nature! One of our favorite visitors ever for sure -- so much fun "talking dead" with her!! Didn't realize there were so many Walking Dead fans in the PS22 Chorus!! Check out an absolutely chilling rendition of "Hold On" (by Tom Waits) and then her appropriately titled song, "Masterpiece."

Wrecking Ball!

Prepare to be pulverized as the PS22 Chorus kids present their unique take on "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus! The video features an absolutely breathtaking solo from ridiculously talented chorus member Tylia! She and the chorus give everything they've got, and in doing so, make this performance a real knock out... literally!!

The Mowgli's!!

The Mowgli's demonstrate why they're one of the best new bands out there as they mix it up with the PS22 Chorus on these deliciously raucous live acoustic renditions of "Say It, Just Say It" and "San Francisco!" We were honored to be visited by such an inspiring group of people with such infectious positivity in their music and otherwise!!

Wake Me Up!

Wake up this beautiful Saturday morning to "Wake Me Up" by Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc performed by the PS22 Chorus of 2014!! Props to the all the kids for this beautiful cover, and particularly soloist Juan for his soulful contribution!

Gavin DeGraw & PS22 Chorus Make A Move!

On Wednesday, Gavin DeGraw visited PS22 to perform two of his songs with the kids! Not only were we all majorly impressed by Gavin's talent, he showed himself to be an exceptionally cool, gracious, and humble human being. PS22 Chorus Makes Lady Gaga Cry!!

Last night, the PS22 Chorus of 2014 had the privilege of introducing Lady Gaga as she accepted her Glamour Woman of the Year Award at Carnegie Hall! For the occasion, we put together a vocal arrangement mashing up some of her biggest hits, including "Just Dance", "Paparazzi", "Edge of Glory" and "Applause!" Lady Gaga was moved to tears and sang her praises to the kids for the incredible job they did! Big thanks to Joe Baker and his producers for preparing the instrumental track to back the vocal arrangement we created! Also thanks to Jen Weinberg, Leane Romeo, Karen Carpenter, and all the people at Glamour for their respective parts in making this a moment all of us will never forget!

PS22 Chorus Feels Like A MONSTER!

PS22 Chorus of 2014 releases its inner monster this Halloween with a crazy-cool cover of "Monster" by Skillet, which the kids only learned today! Thanks to 'nocturnal' zombie-twin Adrian for the song suggestion....

Pompeii

The PS22 Chorus of 2014 is moving full-steam ahead with this glorious cover of "Pompeii" by Bastille! We think the kids did a rather amazing job with this one!

Daughtry & PS22 Chorus Take It Up, Up And Away

PS22 Chorus of 2014 joins Daughtry for a performance more powerful than a locomotive.... .... Check out this phenomenal acoustic rendition of the new single, "Waiting For Superman" from the band's new album, BAPTIZED, featuring backup vocals from your favorite fifth-graders!   UPDATE (1-3-14):  Just added -- another amazing performance of  Daughtry's hit "What About Now!"

ROAR!

In like a lion, the new PS22 Chorus of 2014 delivers in a big way on its first video of the school year with a powerful version of "ROAR" by Katy Perry!! This performance is especially mind-blowing when you consider the fact that the new group has only been working together for less than two and half weeks! Big props go to Stephanie on the solo, and all the kids for an auspicious debut!!

UPDATE (10-5-13): PS22's cover of "Roar" is continuing to garner impressive accolades, most notably getting a wonderful review by our most celebrated supporter and friend, Perez Hilton, who blogged and tweeted his love for the kids' rendition! Check out the screencap of his amazing praise below!

PS22 Chorus of 2014's "Wonder"-ful Debut at Global Citizen Festival!

Yesterday, the PS22 Chorus of 2014 gave its first performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park! After only two weeks together rehearsing, the kids confidently took to the stage among the likes of Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Kings of Leon, Janelle Monae, and Elvis Costello, just to name a few! The event was attended by an audience of over 60,000 people, and watched via livestream by over a million! The kids sang "Wonder" by Naughty Boy ft. Emeli Sande, a song chosen by the fantastic organization Kidnected World with the intention of bringing together two groups of disparate children in Australia. During the summer, I traveled to Australia with Kidnected World to teach the song to The Redlands School children in Sydney as well as some children from an Aboriginal village at Ayers Rock! Before and during the PS22 performance last night, the Global Citizen Festival showed video footage consisting of highlights of the Aussie children we worked with coming together! The video, coupled with the inspiring performance of the PS22 Chorus, certainly provided an inspiring moment of wonder!
