PS22 Chorus of 2014's "Wonder"-ful Debut at Global Citizen Festival!

Yesterday, the PS22 Chorus of 2014 gave its first performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park! After only two weeks together rehearsing, the kids confidently took to the stage among the likes of Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Kings of Leon, Janelle Monae, and Elvis Costello, just to name a few! The event was attended by an audience of over 60,000 people, and watched via livestream by over a million! The kids sang "Wonder" by Naughty Boy ft. Emeli Sande, a song chosen by the fantastic organization Kidnected World with the intention of bringing together two groups of disparate children in Australia. During the summer, I traveled to Australia with Kidnected World to teach the song to The Redlands School children in Sydney as well as some children from an Aboriginal village at Ayers Rock! Before and during the PS22 performance last night, the Global Citizen Festival showed video footage consisting of highlights of the Aussie children we worked with coming together! The video, coupled with the inspiring performance of the PS22 Chorus, certainly provided an inspiring moment of wonder!

 While at the event, the kids got to say hello to Alicia Keys, Janelle Monae, and John Mayer! They even got to take photos with R&B legend Dionne Warwick, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, and Malawi President Joyce Banda! The Dawn of 2014

As you may have noticed, this weekend the blog got a brand new look in honor of the arrival of the PS22 Chorus of 2014!   Now we officially welcome them in here with our first chorus pic of the new school year...  No doubt it will be one to remember!

The Last Dance for PS22 Chorus of 2013

A new school year begins today, so it seems fitting to post a proper farewell post in honor of the PS22 Chorus of 2013. Wonderful, wonderful kids, you are and will continue to be missed! Remember your own words of wisdom and stay you.

PS22 Chorus & Sesame Street Muppets!

Well this definitely has to be the most surreal PS22 Chorus performances ever! Check out the kids mixing it up with the Sesame Street Muppets at the 2013 Sesame Gala at Cipriani's in Manhattan back in May! A dream come true for the kids, and apparently some of the Muppets too, who happened to be big PS22 fans!  The kids are even joined by George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth on the performance of  the Sesame classic, "Sing!"

Fine China

Check out this spectacular performance of Chris Brown's "Fine China" led by former 2002 PS22 Chorus member, Dena Jay! Dena is the sister of 2013 member, C.J., and certainly provides definitive evidence here that talent runs in the family!

The video got an awesome shout out from Chris Brown himself on Twitter, who apparently was moved to tears! Check out the screencap below!

Denise Returns!!

Our legendary 2011 PS22 Chorus member Denise returns for a recent visit! Denise has gone on to do some amazing things, most notably the Target Commercial that aired during the 2012 Grammy Awards! And if you haven't heard it, check out her recent single, "Hidden!" It's absolutely amazing!!!

Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho

Congratulations to our most beloved Ms. Lisa (PS22 Chorus videographer extraordinaire) on the arrival of her son, Joshua Vincent, on August 7th! He's the luckiest baby to have a mommy as warm and wonderful as you! The PS22 Chorus sends all our love and best wishes to you and Joshua!!
