Let the games begin! Here are only some of the highlights from the PS22 Chorus of 2014 auditions! As you will see, the talent and personality of this year's crew are tremendous, and we're all excited for what lies ahead!

The Dawn of 2014

As you may have noticed, this weekend the blog got a brand new look in honor of the arrival of the PS22 Chorus of 2014!   Now we officially welcome them in here with our first chorus pic of the new school year...  No doubt it will be one to remember!

The Last Dance for PS22 Chorus of 2013

A new school year begins today, so it seems fitting to post a proper farewell post in honor of the PS22 Chorus of 2013. Wonderful, wonderful kids, you are and will continue to be missed! Remember your own words of wisdom and stay you.

PS22 Chorus & Sesame Street Muppets!

Well this definitely has to be the most surreal PS22 Chorus performances ever! Check out the kids mixing it up with the Sesame Street Muppets at the 2013 Sesame Gala at Cipriani's in Manhattan back in May! A dream come true for the kids, and apparently some of the Muppets too, who happened to be big PS22 fans!  The kids are even joined by George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth on the performance of  the Sesame classic, "Sing!"

Fine China

Check out this spectacular performance of Chris Brown's "Fine China" led by former 2002 PS22 Chorus member, Dena Jay! Dena is the sister of 2013 member, C.J., and certainly provides definitive evidence here that talent runs in the family!

The video got an awesome shout out from Chris Brown himself on Twitter, who apparently was moved to tears! Check out the screencap below!

Denise Returns!!

Our legendary 2011 PS22 Chorus member Denise returns for a recent visit! Denise has gone on to do some amazing things, most notably the Target Commercial that aired during the 2012 Grammy Awards! And if you haven't heard it, check out her recent single, "Hidden!" It's absolutely amazing!!!

Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho

Congratulations to our most beloved Ms. Lisa (PS22 Chorus videographer extraordinaire) on the arrival of her son, Joshua Vincent, on August 7th! He's the luckiest baby to have a mommy as warm and wonderful as you! The PS22 Chorus sends all our love and best wishes to you and Joshua!!

Iris

Never quite got around to posting this with our busy end of the year schedule, but I'm actually quite proud of how wonderfully it turned out, and happy to share it now.... Here is the PS22 Chorus of 2013 (featuring soloist Dorian) singing "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls!

Young Folks

I've loved this song ever since I first heard it, but I only love it more now that the PS22 Chorus kids did their thing with it. Here is "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John!  Soloist Alicea (with a cold no less) and the chorus are perfect with just the right feel for this one, and learned it super-quick too!  Definitely one of this year's personal favorites for me, though admittedly that's becoming quite a list... Wonderful also to have 2009 chorus member Samantha (soloist on "Let There Be Peace On Earth", "Maoz Tsur", & "Tattoo") sit in with us for this! And of course ANY YouTube video with a singing Spider-man has just got to be worth the watch, no?

Jessica Sanchez & PS22 Chorus Provide "Clarity" for Trevor LIVE NYC Gala!

On Monday, June 17th, the PS22 Chorus took the stage at the Trevor LIVE NYC Gala in support of The Trevor Project and all the important work they do! The kids opened with their powerful version of "Titanium" by David Guetta & Sia! And when the kids began singing "Clarity" by Zedd ft. Foxes, they were joined onstage by singer Jessica Sanchez who recently performed the song on Glee! Jessica was absolutely stunning onstage and so wonderfully down to earth offstage. We adored her! Check out the brilliant performances of "Titanium" and "Clarity" below filmed beautifully by Valerie Panzella!

Perhaps needless to say, the performance was a major success! Wetpaint.com reports that the kids stole the show! Vanity Fair reports that the chorus gave "a rousing performance that had the crowd cheering!"  Jessica Sanchez tweeted "Just goosebumps everywhere! These kids are giving me full on life right now!!! Snooki posted a pic of the kids singing with Jessica on her Instagram, and remarked, "Absolutely amazing." Zedd posted the video on his Twitter page exclaiming, "HOW AWESOME IS THIS!?!?!?" And certainly the most entertaining praise came from Trevor LIVE host Jane Lynch saying, “Those kids! We were back there crying.... They were just amazing. Beautiful. And so precious. I ate one. He was delicious... Thank God he was an alto.”

PS22 Chorus reinterprets the dance hit, "Clarity" by Zedd ft. Foxes! Major props to Jenesis for effortlessly nailing her solo parts.  Such a beautiful rendition....

Michael Franti & PS22 Chorus Say Hey, I Love You!

On Friday, June 7th, Michael Franti stopped by to thank the PS22 Chorus for covering his new single, "I'm Alive (Life Sounds Like)", and to sing some of his uplifting songs with the kids! Truly one of the most lovable characters that's entered the PS22 auditorium, Michael brought joy, laughter, music, and inspiration that will stay with us forever!
