April leads the chorus and then the coaches in 2 incredible renditions (the coaches' is a capella) of "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay! It's very different obviously than the original, but I think the kids pulls it off brilliantly!

ReplyDeleteI hope this isn't too strange, but I stumbled upon your chorus' rendition of Coldplay's Viva la Vida on Youtube today. I have almost no words to explain how in awe of your accomplishments I am. Your group of kids is the most passionate, exciting, and inspiring group I think I have ever seen. Not only are they wonderfully talented musicians, but they are soulful, eager, and determined. I can tell from your videos that you guys have put a lot of work into your performances, and believe me, it shows. I am currently a junior at an all-girls high school in Connecticut, and I think it is safe to say that the talent at PS22's school FAR surpasses ours. I can only wish that the girls in my choir would put as much effort and pure PASSION into the work that we perform as you do. Watching your kids sing has helped me rekindle a passion for choir that I thought I had almost lost. You are a fantastic music director and I wish you the best of luck!

Every time I see the PS22 video of Viva La Vida, tears well up. Such a beautiful rendition, I prefer it a bit more than the original Coldplay song. Although it's great to have both versions.
