Red Hands

PS22 Chorus sings "Red Hands" by Walk Off The Earth and it's truly oUt oF tHiS wOrLd!! Just when you think it can't get any better, the kids kick it up yet another notch with a cover that just crackles with energy, and that lightning definitely struck with a vengeance here! Big props to Graceanna for demonstrating her new-found xylophone skills, Aaron for enhancing the electricity with his fantastic drumming, soloists Dorian & Melina for providing top-notch vocals, and the entire chorus for delivering a performance that undoubtedly earns the title of an all-time favorite!

Cups

The entire student body at PS22 seems to be infatuated with this song, so of course we had to have the chorus do it! Here is "Cups" made famous from the film, Pitch Perfect. Kids taught this one to me, and we took it from there! Jenny did the beautiful soloing on the second verse, and the other "cup girls" rocking the creative percussion were (from l-r) Diamond, Nyema, and Liz! A fun little rollick....

Rebel Beat!

This is BEAST!! PS22 Chorus alum Clive returns for an unforgettable guest appearance on "Rebel Beat" by Goo Goo Dolls!! And the kids bust this one out too for the high energy performance of the year!!

a DELTA RAE of sunshine shines on PS22!

And yet another PS22 Chorus collaboration that will go down in the record books.... Here is the incredible Delta Rae performing four of their songs with the kids!  Can't say enough great things about this band, but I think these videos speak volumes....

Elle King & PS22 Chorus Are "Playing For Keeps" In Teen Vogue Photo Shoot!

Recently, PS22 Chorus got together with the extraordinary Elle King to do a photo shoot for TEEN VOGUE! (You may remember the chorus covered Elle's beautiful acoustic song, "No One Can Save You" back in January!) Before the session, we surprised Elle with a choral arrangement of her brilliant song, "Playing For Keeps!" Aside from being just a ridiculously amazing version of the song, this performance will just make you smile from ear to ear for Elle's reaction to the kids throughout the song and afterward! Priceless! Of course we also took the opportunity to got together for a special rendition of "No One Can Save You" and Jenesis did a fantastic job soloing! Please Come To Boston

PS22 Chorus sending its love, hope, and prayers to the people in the Boston area in this loving tribute -- a needed reminder that there is good in the world in the midst of these devastating times.

Little Talks

PS22 Chorus proves that girls and boys can sing songs Of Monsters And Men! Here is the brilliant song "Little Talks," presented by PS22 Chorus of 2013 featuring Jianna & Matthew on a killer duet!

Mr. Tambourine Man

The song "Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan has been covered by a host of amazing artists, including Melanie, Odetta, Judy Collins, even William Shatner, and most notably by The Byrds. Here, PS22 Chorus offers up its own interpretation of this classic tune, and it features a beautiful performance by Vanecia on the leads!

Crash

PS22 Chorus performs a tender but powerful rendition of "Crash" by the brilliant Canadian act, Esthero, whose album "Everything is Expensive" has been getting lots of play on my iPod. And Delaney is just utter perfection on the solo parts. Love this. (I should add the kids learned and recorded it in one rehearsal, making it all the more impressive!)

UPDATE: The kids got a sweet tweet from Esthero who was apparently brought to tears by the PS22 cover!  AND apparently our pal Perez Hilton loved it too!

Brielle Von Hugel & PS22 Chorus Perform For Michael's Cause!

Last week, our fellow Staten Islander, Brielle Von Hugel (American Idol semi-finalist), joined up with the PS22 Chorus to perform at a fundraiser last Friday for Michael's Cause, an organization dedicated to fighting Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. We rehearsed with her prior to the event and filmed this video of "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts (to which I proudly add that the kids learned their parts during that rehearsal)! Brielle is all graciousness and an enormous talent and we know we'll be seeing and singing with her again soon!

PS22 Chorus of 2013 Rocks National Anthem at MSG!

PS22 Chorus of 2013 performed an absolutely amazing rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" to open last Thursday's NY Rangers vs. FL Panthers game at Madison Square Garden! The Rangers didn't win that night, but PS22 definitely scored big!

Yeah, as if this were an opportunity we could really pass up?! PS22 Chorus of 2013 has a blast singing its namesake with the help of Taylor Swift's new single, "22!" We may just have to make this our new school song...
